The group meets on the first Wednesday of every month at 2pm in the Village Hall, where there is usually a speaker, and to sign up for any group activities over the coming weeks.

Interest Groups presently established are Art, Genealogy, French, Luncheon Club, Rambling, Away Days, and Table Top games who meet on a regular basis, either morning or afternoon, once or twice a month.

Improving Village Neighbourhoods Scheme

Council receives a number of requests for various improvement actions to be taken in and around the village. Some can be satisfied but, in many cases, it does not have a ‘power’ to act with authority; particularly over private matters. However, in some cases, it is obvious that some improvement is needed so Councillors may seek to address a matter on an informal/verbal basis. Should this not work, Council may then consider sending a confidential letter to a resident suggesting that some action be taken. This will only be done under a Council resolution and only under extreme situations. Some examples are: overgrowing of public footpaths, inconsiderate parking, unmaintained land adjacent to public areas and public disturbances.

When the Parish Council gets to know of new people becoming resident in Boughton, an information booklet and a copy of the Village Design Statement is sent to them. Any suggestions for inclusion would be most welcome to make it much more informative and useful.

Inconsiderate parking in the village

Councillors have witnessed and have had a number of complaints about inconsiderate parking on verges and roads in the village. This causes danger to both drivers and pedestrians and often affects traffic flow. Police are now becoming involved and Council requests residents to help with minimizing this worsening problem.
