  2. New and existing businesses should be 'good neighbours' in all senses.
  3. Older buildings may be sensitively converted for appropriate business or light industrial use, but should be of high quality design.
  4. Historic boundaries should be retained, especially drystone walls.
  5. Protect trees and hedgerows.
  6. Plant native species of trees and hedgerows.
  7. Protect Wildlife.
  8. Respect the ancient settlement patterns.
  9. Respect the views within and out of the village as shown on the map on pages 8 & 9.
  10. Integrate new development carefully.
  11. Preserve important open spaces.
  12. Conserve the older fabric of buildings with appropriate treatment and materials.
  13. Conserve original features in order to save Boughton’s heritage.
  14. New buildings should respect the heritage of the village and be in sympathy with neighbouring properties according to the area.
  15. Highways, signs, paths, street furniture and fittings should suit the local rural context.
  16. Street lighting or property lighting should be appropriate to the rural location and not create light pollution.
  17. Traffic calming measures should be appropriate to the rural setting and not be 'urbanised'. The use of humps and rumble-strips is considered inappropriate.
